REACh – Registration

Under REACh, manufacturers and importers are responsible for registering their chemicals that are manufactured or imported in quantities > 1 t per year and determining their safe use. This means that manufacturers and importers must assess the risks of the substances manufactured and placed on the market and take measures for safe handling. For downstream users, only uses that have been found to be safe are permitted. This means that downstream users are responsible for ensuring that their own use is taken into account during registration.

For registration according to REACh, a technical dossier and, for substances with a volume > 10 tons per year, a chemical safety report must also be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Without registration, further use or marketing is excluded.
